CARLA BANK

Carla Bank was born in Mexico City and raised on the beach in Cancun. Although she has lived in the United States for the past two decades, her Mexican heritage is a large influence in her work and a constant source of inspiration.
Raised in a family full of creative professionals, she has always had a passion for art and love for painting, even as a child.

She was trained professionally in graphic design in Guadalajara, Mexico before meeting her husband in Cancun and moving to Chicago.

Carla’s work places less emphasis on gesture and brushstrokes in favor of an overall consistency of form and process. Color is freed from objective context and becomes the subject in and of itself.
She makes her own paint using powder pigments, polymers, and resins.
